Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar won the 2026 Tour de France, claiming his fifth title and equaling the all-time record held by four other riders. At 27 years old, Pogacar’s victory marks his third consecutive Tour de France win and draws him level with Belgian Eddy Merckx, Spaniard Miguel Indurain, and Frenchmen Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault on cycling’s most prestigious list.
According to reporting from the finish line in Paris, Pogacar dominated the race after stage 6, maintaining his lead throughout the remainder of the competition. In the final stage, Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel won the legendary concluding leg of the race after a prolonged breakaway effort, though Pogacar ultimately secured the overall title.
