An Australian court has rejected Pauline Hanson’s appeal against a racial discrimination ruling, upholding an earlier decision that a post directed at Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi was unlawful. The One Nation leader had sought to overturn the ruling but was unsuccessful in her legal challenge.
The court decision comes as resurfaced comments from Hanson have drawn scrutiny regarding her positions on domestic violence issues. In podcast remarks from the previous year, Hanson stated that employers should not be responsible for providing paid domestic violence leave, a position that contrasts with support from other political figures for such workplace protections.
Additionally, One Nation colleague Malcolm Roberts has recently characterized Australia’s family court system critically, referring to it as the “slaughterhouse of the nation,” as part of broader criticism of the domestic violence support framework and family law processes.
