Juan Orlando Hernandez, the former president of Honduras, returned to his home country on Sunday following a pardon from President Donald Trump. Hernandez had been serving a 45-year prison sentence in the United States for drug trafficking charges.
According to reports, Hernandez was sentenced to 45 years in US prison before receiving the pardon from Trump last year. His return comes after the completion of legal proceedings that resulted in his release from federal custody.
The former president’s homecoming was marked by the presence of family members, his political party, and supporters who greeted him upon his arrival in Honduras.
