A new Gallup poll released Tuesday shows public confidence in the Supreme Court has dropped to 33 percent, marking its lowest approval rating in 26 years. The decline was primarily driven by a decrease in Republican support for the institution, according to the polling data.
The timing of the poll comes as the Supreme Court entered its summer recess following the issuance of its final opinions for the term. During the 2026 term, the Trump administration experienced several significant losses at the Court on major issues including tariffs, birthright citizenship, and decisions involving the Federal Reserve.
