She defeated Gillian Robertson by unanimous decision in the co-main event, a dominant, one-sided performance that marked her first successful title defense.
The path to the title
Dern captured the vacant 115-pound belt after defeating Virna Jandiroba. She now sits on a four-fight winning streak. Robertson entered the bout riding a five-fight winning streak of her own. According to reporting, the only previous UFC strawweight champions to hold the belt without successfully defending it were Jessica Andrade and Carla Esparza.
The shadow of Weili Zhang
Despite Dern’s solid title defense, former strawweight champion Weili Zhang continues to be a topic of conversation in the division. Zhang never lost the strawweight title; instead, she vacated it to pursue a second championship. She challenged Flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko for the 125-pound belt but was soundly defeated in that fight. In the interim, Dern won the vacant strawweight title and has now defended it once. Dern told reporters at the UFC 330 post-fight press conference that she does not believe she needs to defeat Zhang to validate her championship status. “I felt like the champion before when I won the belt,” Dern said. “I just think I solidified myself even more as the champ for the fans who would say that, but I don’t think I need to beat Weili to be a champ.”

Dern is targeting an early 2027 return for her second title defense. Zhang has been largely absent from public view in recent weeks.
