The result and the fight
Cris Cyborg defeated Ketlen Vieira by unanimous decision at PFL Tampa on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Florida. All three judges scored the fight for Cyborg: 49-46, 48-47, and 49-46. The pair combined for 308 strikes over the five-round main event at Benchmark International Arena.
The fight tested Cyborg’s dominance. Vieira, whose 7-pound weight miss disqualified her from competing for the PFL featherweight title, came to fight and repeatedly troubled the champion. In Round 2, Cyborg hurt Vieira with a calf kick, but Vieira fired back with heavy hooks that briefly rocked Cyborg late in the round. Cyborg attempted takedowns throughout, securing ground-and-pound in Round 3, but Vieira countered with a judo throw and landed her own ground-and-pound. In the final round, both fighters traded takedowns and exchanges until the final horn sounded. Despite controlling most exchanges on the feet, Cyborg did not secure the dominant finish she had hoped for.
Cyborg’s record and streak
The victory marked Cyborg’s 30th professional win, improving her overall record to 30-2-1. She extended her unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive wins, undefeated for nearly eight years. The 41-year-old Brazilian, who made her pro MMA debut in 2005, is a former UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, and Invicta FC featherweight champion. She also holds a 6-0 record in professional boxing.
Post-fight callouts and retirement status
Despite expectations that the decorated 21-year career would end regardless of the fight’s outcome, Cyborg signaled no intention to retire. Post-fight, she called Vieira “a big test” and said she was “ready for anybody, anytime, any weight.”
Cyborg renewed her longstanding pursuit of a fight with three-weight undisputed boxing champion Claressa Shields, telling Shields to “eat less” so they could fight at middleweight. She also called out UFC women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison, who was present at the event. While wishing Harrison a speedy recovery from neck issues, Cyborg accused her of running and said she would be waiting if Harrison got through Amanda Nunes. Harrison is a former PFL lightweight champion now competing in the UFC.
Vieira’s record and weight miss
The loss was the sixth defeat in 34-year-old Vieira’s career, marking her opening bout in the PFL after missing weight by 7 pounds. This weight miss cost her the opportunity to compete for the PFL featherweight title.
