Two separate maritime incidents involving passenger vessels have resulted in rescue operations in different regions. In Indonesia, five passengers, including a seven-year-old girl, were rescued from a passenger boat that sank, with rescue occurring days after the vessel went down. In South America, a ferry carrying 116 passengers and crew sank off the coast of Guyana late Saturday, with authorities reporting 67 people rescued so far, including 15 children.
The Guyana incident is described as one of the country’s worst maritime disasters, with dozens of people still missing. An ongoing search-and-rescue operation is continuing in the waters off Guyana’s coast. The Indonesian incident resulted in survivors being found adrift several days after their vessel sank, highlighting the variable timelines and conditions in different maritime rescue scenarios.
