The Scottsdale Unified School District has canceled this week’s varsity football game between Chaparral High School and Saguaro High School, one of Arizona’s longest-running high school rivalries, because Saguaro doesn’t have enough healthy players to safely compete.
Chaparral was scheduled to host Saguaro this Friday in what’s known locally as “The Battle for Scottsdale,” a rivalry dating back to the 1970s.
