Police in Berlin shot and killed the suspect in a deadly attack that occurred near the city’s Pride festival. German authorities identified the suspect as 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, a German citizen with Lebanese roots who was linked to the city’s Islamist scene.
According to police accounts, Ballout allegedly charged at officers with a knife while they attempted to arrest him, leading to the fatal confrontation. The shooting took place in a suburb near Berlin after authorities conducted a manhunt following the initial attack at the Pride event.
