Background on White
White, a third-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022, signed with the Commanders in the offseason. According to the Sporting News, he signed a one-year deal worth $2 million with $1,715,000 guaranteed, a $400,000 signing bonus, and up to $2 million in performance incentives. He spent his first four NFL seasons in Tampa Bay, starting 48 of 67 career games and missing just one regular-season game due to a hamstring injury in 2024.
White and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels share a connection from their time together at Arizona State in 2021, which was cited as a factor in Washington’s signing. In his 2025 season with Tampa Bay, White appeared in all 17 games with eight starts, recording 572 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 40 receptions, and 218 receiving yards.
