An Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has reached 3,262 confirmed cases, with health officials characterizing it as the fastest outbreak on record in terms of case accumulation rate.
In response to the escalating crisis, healthcare workers at an Ebola treatment center in Bunia, a city in eastern DR Congo, have gone on strike. The strike comes as death tolls from the outbreak continue to rise, raising concerns about disruptions to treatment efforts during the public health emergency.
The outbreak reflects both the severity of the current Ebola crisis and emerging challenges in mounting an effective response, as healthcare workers express grievances while the disease continues to spread at an accelerated pace.
