A private security company managing immigration detention facilities has experienced changes in its financial performance and operational scale. Management & Training Corporation (MTC), which provides security services at asylum centres, reported UK revenues declining from £28.4 million to £17.6 million in 2025 following the end of an asylum centre contract, though the company is positioned to potentially earn £500 million managing a major facility until 2036.
Elsewhere, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has extended its lease on a detention centre in Texas where three migrant deaths have been reported since the facility opened last year. The circumstances surrounding these deaths and the reasons for the lease extension remain under scrutiny.
Concerns about detention facility operations have been raised by a former senior ICE official, who has stated that pressure to increase hiring and focus on detention numbers may be contributing to operational problems, including fatal incidents. These comments reflect broader debates about how immigration detention facilities are managed and the priorities that guide their operations.
