Skyroot Aerospace

Skyroot Aerospace, a space technology company founded in India, successfully launched the Vikram-1 rocket on Saturday, marking India’s first commercial rocket designed to reach orbit. The rocket lifted off from an island location north of Chennai, signaling a significant milestone for India’s private space sector.

The launch represents India’s entry into the commercial rocket launch market and reflects the country’s ambitions to capture a larger share of the growing space industry. Skyroot Aerospace, recognized as India’s first space-tech unicorn, has developed the Vikram-1 as part of efforts to offer commercial launch services for satellites and other orbital missions.

The successful orbital launch demonstrates India’s capability to support private space ventures and may position the country as a competitor in the international commercial spaceflight sector.
