A significant fire in Drammen, southern Norway, has destroyed more than 100 homes, according to authorities and rescue officials. The blaze has also spread to a nearby forest area, expanding the scope of the emergency response.
Hundreds of residents have been evacuated from the affected areas as firefighters work to combat the blaze. Helicopters have been deployed to assist in firefighting efforts by dumping water on the fire, a tactic commonly used in large-scale wildfire incidents.
Authorities continue to work on containing the spread of the fire and assisting those displaced by the destruction. Further details about the cause of the fire and the timeline for recovery efforts have not been reported.
