Two separate maritime disasters have occurred in recent days, each resulting in significant casualties and ongoing rescue efforts. Off the coast of Guyana, a ferry carrying 116 passengers capsized between Georgetown and Port Kaituma, with authorities reporting that 53 people have been rescued so far. The circumstances of the capsizing and the total number of people still missing have not been fully detailed.
In a separate incident in Indonesia, a boat sank with at least 20 people reported missing. According to reports, five survivors were found three days after the sinking, clinging to a fish trap and floating debris at sea. The rescue efforts in both incidents are ongoing as authorities work to account for the missing persons.
