James was among the last major names to settle. His free agency reportedly influenced other moves around the league: Draymond Green and James Harden both declined team options to create flexibility in pursuing James before he chose Philadelphia. Green ultimately re-signed with the Warriors on the same one-year, $27.7 million deal he had opted out of, while Harden is expected to return to the Cavaliers.
Philadelphia also acquired Jaylen Brown, with CBS Sports noting the trade for Brown broke just hours after Mitchell Robinson left the champion Knicks for a three-year deal with the Celtics. After landing Brown, the Sixers further reshaped their backcourt by agreeing to a two-year deal with Anfernee Simons.
