Sunrisers Leeds posted 241-2 from their 100 balls at Headingley, the highest team total in the history of the Hundred competition, then beat London Spirit by 37 runs as Spirit replied with 204-6. The win moved Sunrisers up to fourth place in the men’s competition table and keeps them in contention for the play-offs, while Spirit remain seventh.
How the record score was built
Batting first after winning the toss, Sunrisers opened with Mitchell Marsh and Ryan Rickelton, who put on 148 for the first wicket, a new record partnership for the Hundred, surpassing the 127 added by Jimmy Neesham and Tom Curran for Oval Invincibles against Manchester Originals in 2023. Marsh made 76 off 37 balls before Harry Brook, England’s limited-overs captain, came in and reached fifty off just 15 balls, a mark that equals the fastest fifty in Hundred history, matching Adam Rossington’s effort for London Spirit against Northern Superchargers in 2022. Brook finished with 55 off 18 balls, striking five sixes and five fours at a strike rate of 305.55, the fourth-highest strike rate recorded in a Hundred innings. Rickelton ended unbeaten on 94 off 42 balls, left short of a century after running out of strike late in the innings. Brook and Rickelton added 83 off 32 balls for the second wicket.
The records that fell
Sunrisers’ 241-2 beat the previous highest Hundred team total of 226-4, set by Oval Invincibles against Welsh Fire in 2025. Sunrisers hit 21 sixes in their innings alone (Rickelton eight, Marsh seven, Brook five, Dan Lawrence one), well past the previous single-innings record of 17. Across both innings there were 31 sixes in the match, the most in any Hundred game, beating the previous mark of 29 hit in a Birmingham Phoenix–Trent Rockets match earlier this summer. The combined match aggregate of 445 runs also set a new record, topping the previous best of 418 from that same Phoenix-Rockets game.
Spirit’s reply and the bowling
London Spirit’s chase started badly when Jonny Bairstow was out first ball to Reece Topley, and the top order continued to struggle as Spirit slipped to 44-4. David Willey then anchored a recovery with an unbeaten 83 off 46 balls to get Spirit to 204-6, avoiding a heavier defeat. Topley finished with figures of 2-30 for Sunrisers.
