Taylor Farms has issued a voluntary recall of all iceberg lettuce sourced from one Mexican farm following an outbreak of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic disease that causes diarrhea. The FDA traced the contamination to lettuce distributed to Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. In response, Taco Bell removed all Taylor Farms lettuce from both its restaurants and supply chain nationwide.
The outbreak has spread beyond the initial states affected, prompting broader action from both the supplier and the restaurant chain. The FDA advised consumers to avoid the recalled shredded iceberg lettuce products.
