Central Texas is experiencing significant flooding from heavy rains, with at least two deaths reported. The affected areas include Uvalde County and surrounding regions that were devastated by major floods in the previous year, which resulted in more than 130 deaths.
Rescue operations are underway to assist residents stranded by the floods. Bodycam footage from rescuers shows emergency personnel airlifting a family of three from their destroyed home in Uvalde County, illustrating the scale of the current emergency response efforts.
Authorities are using the current flooding event to test new warning systems that were implemented following last year’s deadly rainfall. The repeated impact on the same geographic area underscores the region’s vulnerability to severe weather events and raises questions about flood preparedness and infrastructure resilience in central Texas.
