Escalating military tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified over the past week, with both countries conducting sustained attacks on each other’s targets. The US Central Command carried out a seventh consecutive night of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure and maritime capabilities, while Iran responded with attacks directed at US allies in the Middle East, including Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain.
The renewed conflict began approximately 10 days ago when US President Donald Trump declared the peace deal with Iran to be over. US strikes have resulted in visible damage to Iranian bridges and a water desalination plant, according to video evidence reported by multiple sources. Iran has accused the United States of targeting critical infrastructure in its strikes.
Iran’s counterattacks have focused on US-allied nations in the Gulf region. Kuwait reported that civilian sites and vital infrastructure were targeted, while Jordan reported intercepting missiles and sirens sounded in Bahrain. The most significant reported damage from Iran’s strikes was at a water desalination plant in Kuwait. A Gulf council body has characterized Iran’s actions as war crimes, while tensions have particularly escalated over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
