Vehicle Strikes Crowd Near Berlin Pride Celebration; Suspect Shot Dead

A vehicle struck a crowd near Berlin’s Christopher Street Day Pride celebration in Tiergarten park on Saturday evening, resulting in at least one death. The incident occurred near the Brandenburg Gate at approximately 10 pm, in proximity to one of Europe’s largest annual LGBTQ+ celebrations. German authorities are treating the incident as an attack on the LGBTQ+ community.

Police responded by confronting the main suspect, a 21-year-old man, on Sunday. According to German police statements, the suspect had a prior record of Islamist extremist activity. During the confrontation, the suspect was shot and killed by police.

Authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and the suspect’s background and motivations.
