Twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 have resulted in a death toll exceeding 5,000 people, according to official reports. The earthquakes, which occurred within a minute of each other, caused particularly severe damage to the coastal state of La Guaira located north of Caracas, leaving significant destruction in the affected regions.
In response to the disaster, international aid efforts are underway from multiple sources. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced the release of approximately $346 million in emergency funds to support Venezuela’s recovery and reconstruction efforts. Additionally, U.S. government involvement in relief operations has been documented, with American troops assisting in the unloading of aid shipments, including China’s relief flight, at Simón Bolívar Airport.
The coordinated international response reflects the scale of the humanitarian crisis, with funding and logistical support coming from multilateral institutions and bilateral assistance programs as Venezuela begins its recovery process.
