A 17-year-old Mississippi resident named Cordarius Hobbs has been charged with capital murder in connection with the June 3 deaths of Billy Blair, 74, and Virginia Carol Blair, 71, at their home in Mendenhall. According to law enforcement reports obtained by media outlets, Hobbs had performed handyman work at the couple’s residence.
Prior to the homicide charges, authorities say Hobbs was known to law enforcement in Simpson County and was suspected in connection with multiple other crimes. According to police reports, Hobbs was suspected of involvement in numerous home burglaries and car thefts in the area before his arrest on the capital murder charges.
The incident reports indicate that Hobbs had come into contact with local police on previous occasions related to criminal suspicions, establishing a pattern of concern among law enforcement officials in the region before the alleged homicide.
