Kazakhstan’s president held talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the Siberian city of Omsk, during which he urged Russia to end its war in Ukraine. The diplomatic engagement comes as Ukraine continues to conduct military operations deep within Russian territory.

On the same day as the Kazakhstan-Russia talks, Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in Siberia, marking one of Kyiv’s deepest attacks inside Russia to date. The strike demonstrates continued Ukrainian military operations despite ongoing peace discussions in the region.

In a separate regional development, Chinese and Philippine coastguard vessels clashed in the South China Sea, reflecting continued tensions between the two nations in disputed maritime areas. These incidents highlight multiple geopolitical tensions unfolding across Asia and Eastern Europe.
