He stated that the Trump administration “inherited” a depleted supply of munitions when it took office, suggesting that previous decisions contributed to the current weapons inventory levels.
The ambassador’s remarks attempt to balance acknowledgment of reduced stockpiles with assurances that current operational capabilities remain intact. Reports of selective interception of Iranian attacks indicate that military planners are managing weapons usage strategically, though Waltz maintained that these measures have not negatively impacted the broader military mission.
