Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez announced Friday that she is dropping out of the Democratic gubernatorial primary following the discovery of major inaccuracies in her campaign’s financial reporting. Rodriguez had been considered one of the leading Democratic contenders to succeed retiring Gov. Tony Evers.
The decision to withdraw came after her campaign disclosed significant errors in its financial reports. Rodriguez indicated that the mishandling of campaign finances would have created ongoing issues for her candidacy going forward.
